X-ray Systems

Explanation

What is X-Ray Device?

The use of X-Ray device is to determine whether objects such as bags, suitcases, parcels, packages, envelopes carry a content that threatens security and what kind of content they contain. The use of a low-radiation device, which allows the officer to check on the screen whether there is any dangerous substance inside the luggage, without opening it, by passing an X-ray over the luggage, requires operator training and is one of the tools used in the control of the goods. State-of-the-art X-ray devices are devices that can provide excellent picture quality in distinguishing organic and inorganic substances, provide precise picture quality with their advanced X-RAY technology and developed computer picture programs, and thus can easily detect substances such as bombs, weapons, drugs.

X-ray device usage areas?

Today, X-ray devices are frequently used in the control of goods. X-Ray devices are used in airports, ports, business centers, shopping centers, military facilities, public institutions and organizations, in all areas that require security, including drugs and explosives, scanning the interior of trucks and etc. vehicles and detecting foreign substances. Thanks to the special scanning system, all kinds of dangerous, firearms and metal-derived tools stored on the person, such as bags, suitcases, overcoat pockets, can be easily seen on the monitor.

Use of x-ray device for security purposes?

It is used to control the contents of bags and packages at private or institutional facility or building entrances, or in areas where protection is important such as shopping malls, at entrance and exit doors and points.
It can be used to detect and control the contents of postal envelopes or cargo packages for areas with high security levels.
It can be used for the control of container or truck load in customs areas or similar areas.
· It can be used for content control of suspicious packages detected by law enforcement.

WHAT IS X-RAY?

Radioactive X-ray (X-ray) is a form of electromagnetic radiation similar to visible light or radio waves in nature. Like other types of radiation, X-rays consist of energy waves that can travel in a vacuum, that is, in a vacuum, and can only pass through some materials. X-rays cannot be seen with the naked eye and are located in the region between electromagnetic ultraviolet rays and gamma rays.

Information about X-Ray devices;

X-Ray Device units: consists of three main parts.

These are;

1. X-ray unit: The part where the X-rays are sent, detected and the conveyor belt where the goods are placed.

2. Screen : The place where the inside of the items passing through the device can be seen (Monitor).

3. Control panel : The part where the buttons that control the device are located.

What are the issues that operator private security guards working with X-Ray devices should pay attention to?

· The packages and luggage to be checked must be placed on the conveyor belt with at least 50 cm between them and their wide surfaces parallel to the belt.
· If there is difficulty in characterizing the image, the position of the baggage should be changed and passed through the device again.
· The order of examination should be in the form of large and then small objects.
· In cases where there is no definite idea inside the baggage, the baggage should be checked by opening it to the owner.
· While the device is operating, no hands should be touched in the device tunnel, one should not sit on the conveyor belt, one should not be in front of or behind the tunnel, and no food or drink should be left on the device.
· Living things should never be checked with an X-ray device.

· Dosimeter should be used in accordance with the X-ray device used so that the radiation to be exposed to the personnel working with the X-ray device does not exceed the determined limits.

· Dosimeter : It is the film card used to measure the X-ray dose that the personnel using the X-ray device are exposed to. The dosimeter cannot be borrowed or received from anyone else. It cannot be placed next to the metal parts of the buckles and clothes. Measurements and controls of X-ray devices and dosimeters are certified by the Turkish Atomic Energy Agency.

What color does the metal passing through the X-Ray device appear on the screen?

X-ray devices; reflects organic and non-organic materials on the screen in different colors.

. Organic matter milky brown or orange. (Depends on the manufacture of the device.)
· Inorganic and metal substances are dark blue. (Depends on the manufacture of the device.)
. Mixed materials or less dense substances are green (Depends on the production of the device).
